Consumer Cellular Knowledge Base
When Consumer Cellular decided to revamp their website, they decided they needed a more effective way to provide support to their customers. Working with their web designer, Mile 7, they decided to create a Knowledge Base to make it easier for people to find the answers to their questions. I helped them collect, edit and organize both their existing Support information and new material developed as a result of customer calls. Below is a sample of the Support content I wrote for the Consumer Cellular Knowledge Base.
How do I purchase and install ringtones, wallpaper and games for my phone?
You can purchase content for your phone two ways: from your computer or from your phone. The instructions below are for the Nokia 6085h. Other phones may vary slightly in how the menus and links are labeled.
From your computer:
- Log in to My Account
- On the Account Overview page, click “Content Store” in the Purchase Content sidebar on the right.
- Select your phone.
Note: If you want to purchase content for a different phone, click “Change phone” at the top of the page. - Select an item you want and click “Buy it!”
- Enter you cell phone number. The item will be sent to your phone in a text message.
- Once the text message arrives on your phone, open the message and press “Options” (upper left key).
- Scroll to select “Use detail.”
- Scroll to select “Web address.”
- Select “Go To” (center key).
- Scroll to highlight “Buy it!” and press the center key.
- Select “Accept” (center key).

From your phone:
- Select the globe icon on your screen (Nokia) or keypad (Motorola).
- Select “CCI Data” (Nokia only).
- Select “Ringtones and More”.
- You can enter an item to search for or scroll down to select “True Tones”, “Wallpaper”, “Screensavers” or “Games”.
- Select a topic.
- Select an item.
- Scroll down to highlight “Buy it!” and press the center key.
- Select “Accept” (center key).
